Living Social: The Dental Connection!

Staying connected seems to be the "name of the game" for most people living in the 21st Century!  Whether you're young or old, a student or graduate, staying home or on-the-go, there's never a lack of means to be connected.  Unfortunately, it seems like "living social" has now become a 24/7 proposition for most people!  Just as one becomes familiar with one "type" of social media, another new and improved "connection" is introduced.  From Facebook, twitter, texting, to linked in, the days of "YOU'VE GOT MAIL" are long gone.

We at Thomas Family Dentistry have also embraced the ability to connect with our patients as well.  We are on Facebook, Twitter and maintain a BLOG! Although all of the different ways to stay connected with our patient family have enhanced our ability to keep everyone informed on a wide range of topics from the latest advances in dentistry, special offers, celebrations and office milestones, we encourage everyone to take a deep breath and live life with balance.  Otherwise, "living social" can truly make life feel like the old saying "No rest for the weary."

If you have any questions about our office, check out our social media connections or call us at 918-455-0123!

Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend, a time to remember and honor the men and women lost while serving our great country.  Memorial Day is also the unofficial start of Summer! For many, getting out of town for three days after being cooped up in the classroom or the office, spells sweet relief.

What about you?  What are your plans for this Memorial Day weekend?  Whether you are headed to a barbecue, one of Oklahoma's area lakes, a camping trip, hitting the great American open road, or simply kicking back and relaxing, our team at Thomas Family Dentistry would like to hear all about it!

Have a happy, safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend no matter what your plans may be!

Lattes: The Dental Connection!

Today's lifestyle finds many people working many hours behind a computer sipping on a variety of specialty coffee drinks.  Whether it's the morning stop by Starbucks or by the QuikTrip Coffee Bar, many of the specialty coffee drinks are full of sugar!  Over the past five to seven years, there has been a definite rise in adult tooth decay in patients who have not previously had a high rate for cavities.  The common denominator seems to be that more and more patients find themselves sipping on lattes or other milk-laden beverages at their desks throughout the day.  The constant exposure to the lactose or milk sugar gives the bacteria in the mouth a flood of raw fuel or "food" to metabolize.

Drinking a latte in 15 minutes seems to be less harmful than nursing it all day long, which appears to be able to cause the same damage as that seen in baby bottle tooth decay.  Lattes should be considered snacks because of their high milk sugar content.  "Sippers" should take appropriate steps to protect their teeth.  Drinking water or chewing sugar-free gum can help neutralize the bacterial acid content.

If you have any questions concerning your dental health, call us at 918-455-0123.

  • Smiling releases endorphins in the body, which makes people feel better
  • Humans are the only species that use a smile as an emotional response
  • 99.7% of people believe that a smile is the most important social asset
  • 50% of people consider the smile the first facial feature they notice

To keep your all important "SMILE" looking its best, remember to brush for two minutes twice daily, floss, and have a dental exam and cleaning every 6 months.  Call us at 918-455-0123 for an appointment. Our entire team at Thomas Family Dentistry look forward to seeing you soon.

Remember,  200,000 frowns make one permanent wrinkle! So smile!

Hidden Problems: The Dental Connection!

Visiting your dentist on a regular basis is essential to keeping your smile in tip-top shape.  At Thomas Family Dentistry, we offer many preventive services to ensure the health of your mouth and the beauty of your teeth.  We like to think that your smile is just as important to us as it is to you!

Another good reason to visit our office every six months is to check for "hidden" problems that you may not even realize that you have. Tiny cavities can form in the hard-to-reach areas of your teeth and may only be found through a professional exam.  If left untreated, these cavities can get worse, needing more extensive treatment, and costing you even more time and money.  During your regular exam, our entire team will also check to make sure that your existing fillings and other dental restorations are in good shape.

If it has been more that six months since your last visit to our Broken Arrow office, please give us a call at 918-455-0123.  We look forward to your next visit!

God Bless,
DRT
