June Smiles: The Dental Connection!

According to the American Dental Association, a person's smile outranked eyes, hair and body as the most important physical feature, which is why it's important for our team at Thomas Family Dentistry to support National Smile Month this June.

Here are a few simple steps you can take to improve your oral health so that you may celebrate National Smile Month for many, many years to come:

  • Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Floss every day to clean between your teeth.
  • Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks.
  • Visit the dentist regularly (usually every six months apart).

If you have questions about any of these tips, we encourage you to give us a call at 918-455-0123. Also, help us "celebrate" National Smile Month by posting your favorite smile photos on the wall of our Facebook page.  We look forward to seeing what you share!

Another Milestone: The Dental Connection!

Dr. Thomas and the entire staff at Thomas Family Dentistry congratulate Karla on her 10th year with our dental family.  Karla has been providing dental hygiene for our patients since June 2001. Besides spending time with her husband and family, cooking and traveling, she counts it a "wonderful blessing" to work with the patients and staff at Thomas Family Dentistry.  We appreciate her desire to improve the dental health of each and every one of our dental patients through cleanings and education!

Congratulations again,

Batter Up: The Dental Connection!

This summer, as you and your family head out to the ball game--whether it's a Major League park or the local tee ball game, it's important to remember to make smart, healthy choices when it comes to snacks.  Here are some tips you can use to avoid greasy, ballpark foods:

  • Eat before you go!
  • What are you drinking?  Water is always a cheap, refreshing option. Gatorade,  Powerade and VitaminWater work as well, but keep in mind their sugar levels.
  • Bring your own snacks.  Many venues will allow you to take in your own limited snacks, however remember that these must be in unopened packages when you enter the gates.
  • Before the game, get some exercise.  You'll be sitting for two-to-three hours at the game, so be sure to take a walk or a light run before you head out.
  • Calories, calories, calories.  From hot dogs to fries to pizza, the ballpark stands typically sell high-caloric foods.  But most venues will also offer healthier options, such as chicken sandwiches, turkey wraps or soups and salads.

Enjoy the game!
